As a "newbie" to this website, please excuse the following question which may have
been addressed in past postings. Most of the postings in this website appear to define "photo quality" digital
cameras as those cameras which are capable of capturing photos in the 2+
megapixel range. Final print pixel resolutions of at least 120 ppi have also
been debated as being "photo quality". My question and situation is this. I own both a Sony (VX-1000) and Canon (XL-1) digital video camera. Using the still capture mode of these video
cameras results in capturing a photo which is 720 x 480 ppi. This resolution
is extremely low compared to even the most modest priced digital still cameras
on the market today. I am interested in capturing some "photo quality"
digital stills with a maximum final print size of 4" x 5 " (approx.). My question therefore is, what is the maximum "photo quality" print size of
these two video cameras?

-Well said! Be careful though... I've been called an arrogant, Masseratti
driving, perfectionist for making the same argument -If the difference in fidelity between CD's and analog reproduction equipment
was as large as exists between film and digital photos, none would be sold.
