Has anyone taken correspondence classes that they could recommend? I'm
always seeing ads for NY Institute of Photography, but have never heard from
anyone that's taken any of their classes. The website is all marketing hype
with no pricing, only a form to request a catalog. I understand the basics of photography and the physics involved but need
work on making a technically correct picture into something pleasing to the
eye (at least I realize that my great pictures are really boring snapshots).
Any pointers will be appreciated.

-Have you ever considered taking a course in art... art of photography if you
can find one got art in any cas -There are several other ways to learn about photography in addition to
taking classes. If you have access to a camera club, join. Being with
other photographers and sharing ideas is an excellent way to learn. Visit
museums, galleries, etc. and see the photographs on display. Study the
paintings to learn about lighting and composition. Most important, set
yourself some personal goals. Take a series of pictures devoted to a single
theme. For example, make a series of exposures of a scene and vary the
composition. Take another series varying the exposure, etc., etc. Keep a
record of each exposure, and study the results. Your photography will
definitely improve.
