I was wondering if anyone else out there has tried the
Seattle Filmworks' Home Photo Course (cassette tapes, etc.). If so, what
are your opinions?
---------------------
I have the complete set. It's OK nothing to write home about.
The best thing was that I could listen to the tapes on my long
drives to work and it would reinforce what I already new.
Most of the material I already knew but I m a Photo Mag/book
junkie. The thing that bothered me the most was that when they
interviewed a person, except for one time, they still used the
same narator. It got boring listening to him obviously read
the script. I was especially disappointed in Gary Burnstein's
topic. First I expected Gary, himself, to be the voice on
the tape and secondly that the written and picture material
would be fresh and not a rehash of one of his books I already
have. He is my favorite photographer for his topic and that was
the main reason I bought the course. Also, They send the issues
way too often for me. About once every three week. I wrote and
requested them sttretch it out longer but was ignored. I simply just kept
track of it and mailed them a check every month. If your a novice it might be worth the cost. At lest its in little
chunks.
