I'm looking for faq's (or other sources of info)
on pros and cons of various photography schools... Within the
contiguous states, preferably. Couldn't find much on DejaNews;
does anyone know of such a thing?
---------------------
I haven't seen much discussion of photo schools in any of the rec.photo website's.
It depends on what kind of photography you are into. One tip I can give. Avoid school, take some of those workshops and week
long "colleges" sponsored by pro photo associations. I swear you will learn
more in one intense week than you could in two years of a main stream
school. These programs are led by those at the top of the profession. They
usually show what they do, how they do it, WHY they do that way, how they
market it and sell it, what gear they use and who their suppliers are. (in
the last decade, this point has been diluted by the suppliers and
manufacturers sponsoring the seminars.) the programs run from 4-500 to a grand or more for a week, and most are well
worth it.
Photography is a business that you can learn as you go, though you can be
type cast or stuck in a rut.
