I love the Colorado, Montana area and this trip there we will be traveling
from Denver to Calgary via automobile and return. Objective: Photography
for the classes I teach, hiking, and looking at something other than
Orlando's Disney, our fine topless beaches in Miami, 92-96 degree heat, old
Spanish forts, you get the idea....as my wife put it "a change to prevent
brain mange". Be shooting Nikon digital, Nikon 35mm on slides and Bronica
MF. Any suggestions about locations, events, accommodations, etc...would be
appreciated and thanks in advance. If you ever need up to date information
in my turf ( anywhere in Florida and the Everglades) and from a
photographers perspective, I would do the same for you. That's why I posted
here. A photographers brain thinks and sees differently than the AAA.
---------------------
-For a broad range of Web sites covering that area, take a look at
http://www.cieux.com/trinfo6.html
where there are sites by the Calgary UNIX users group on their fair city, a
site on Butte City, CO, and other places you may find interesting in
planning your trip. When you get back, let me know if you post your photos to the Web. -1) Pick up any of several excellent books on Colo back roads, Colo
photography, Colo scenic drives, Colo 4WD roads, Colo scenery, etc.
Do a search on Amazon.com - I forget their exact titles, but many are
available. At minimum, browse in a local Barnes and Noble when you
get to Denver. Its impossible to even begin to cover all the photo
possibilities of Colo. in a website message. 2) Get off the interstates. 3) Try to drive over some of the high passes, take summer ski lift
rides up some mountains and walk back down with your camera equipment,
etc. 4) You will think you died and went to photographic heaven (but its
really just the lack of oxygen at 14k feet) - grin.
