Intro photography course in New York City?

I'm getting into photography and am interested in a good course that shows the fundamentals as well as the beginning of advanced techniques. I would think of myself as a motivated and quickly advancing beginner...

I'm located in Brooklyn, New York (Park Slope) -- so, something in New York City would be necessary... Brooklyn or Mangattan preferrable.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there has any recommendation, or could point in the right direction in terms of where/how to look.

---------------------

-You can call NYU, Pace, Pratt and The New School. I don't think they'll be cheap by any means. Newsday ran a list of courses given in about everything in every borough about 2 weeks ago. Maybe you can call them or search www.newsday.com.

-School of Visual Arts is very good
(http://www.schoolofvisualarts.edu/ContinuingED/ce/fall2000/ce.cgi). On this page, check out the photography courses (i'm taking one starting in Sept). You might want to call them (in Continuing Ed and talk to one of the people there, they are very helpful). Also, Fashion Institute of Technology
(www.fitnyc.suny.edu/), more job-oriented than SVA, but also good.

-ICP, The International Center for Photography has a huge raft of courses. More to the point than that you would find at the 92nd St Y or the New School. ICP has extensive darkrooms for students.
