 | Good school for a Photography degree |
|
|
I was trying to locate any reference on photography degree
offers by any university, college or art school. Can anyone help me out?
---------------------
-Two good schools are: Fashion Institute
New York City Brooks Institute
Santa Barbara, CA My choice is Brooks since I used to work next door and I can attest to its
quality. Also, you can't beat living and learning in Santa Barbara (although
photo opportunities in NYC, my home town, are incredible). -I went to Brooks in '90 and quit after one year. They are very
technically oriented and seemed to me to be somewhat prudish re:
aesthetics. One grad show included an exposed breast and was banned. Also,
there is no portfolio requirement, so every Joe Photo with a heartbeat and a
checkbook can get in. If you want to know how to light *anything* or learn
the intricacies of the Scheimpflug maneuver, Brooks is the place. In my
opinion, if you want your creativity to be fully appreciated, call Art Center
College of Design in Pasadena, CA. They are world-renowned for their Graphic
Design and Photography programs. And Santa Barbara's beautiful scenery is still only 90 minutes away.
