 | Good College for Photography? |
|
|
I have a young friend who would like to go into photography as a career. Can
anyone recommend some of the best colleges for this ? Location would have to be
east coast or midwest
---------------------
-Rochester Institute of Technology is one of the best colleges
for a photography career. The school for Photographic Arts and Sciences
is renown, and it is located in the imaging center (rochester
is home to Kodak and Xerox). It offers a number of degrees
in the photographic fields and even has a few unique degrees (such as Biomedical Photography)
The resources and facilities available at the college is quite
enormous. I could probably think of some other colleges
in the east coast and midwest, but RIT
comes to the forefront of the mind, especially
if you want to pursue a commercial degree. -I went to college and studied photography...it was a complete waste of
time. I had worked at a newspaper while in high school for four years,
then went to college, while there I started assisting for Sports
Illustrated. I can HONESTLY say that I learned absolutely nothing in
college. To top it off, a lot of schools won't let students take actual shooting
classes until they are juniors. So, for me, I couldn't continue my
strengths as a photographer without actually just going out and doing it
anyway. So, that's the way to do it. Everything I learned came from DOING IT! Go find a photographer to assist
and you will learn tons more than you ever will at a school.
